The Triple R Ranch is located within the 27,766 acre Norbeck Wildlife Preserve, 3 miles from the 10,700 acre Black Elk Wilderness Area, and in the middle of the Black Hills National Forest. We center the activities around lots of horseback riding into the scenic back country. This is an area which abounds with Western history. The mile-high elevation assures crystal clear, cool evenings in which to sit back, smell the fresh pine-scented air, listen to the peace and quiet, gaze at the never-ending stars, and get that "down home" feeling. Relax and experience an unforgettable adventure in a leisurely western atmosphere.
What can take place during your stay at the Triple R Ranch?
SUNDAY OR DAY OF ARRIVAL: Guests should plan to arrive after 3:30 PM, but before 5:30 PM and make yourselves comfortable in your lodging. There will be a “get acquainted supper” to meet other guests and our ranch crew.
MONDAY: After your first hearty breakfast, a horse orientation and safety program is required. You will then take a ride on the horse chosen especially for you by our experienced wranglers. Eat lunch and enjoy another ride into the beautiful back country followed by a home cooked supper & a trip by ranch vehicles to the famous Mount Rushmore Lighting Ceremony.
TUESDAY: Another adventurous day! This morning’s quiet ride may afford you the opportunity to see many species of wildlife in their natural habitat, and a ride to the Maybelle Mine or Outlaw Cave is slated for the afternoon. Lunch and supper will be at the ranch house.
WEDNESDAY: After breakfast, pack your own lunch to eat on the trail of your first allday ride. Return to the ranch and get ready to leave for the enjoyable evening’s cowboy Supper and Show, off the ranch.
THURSDAY: This day winds up your last full day at Triple “R”. After breakfast you will ride to the breathtaking “Grande View” vantage point where you can see Mount Rushmore and the distant Dakota Badlands. A trip by ranch vehicle in the early afternoon takes you to the Crazy Horse Memorial. Tonight’s “Going Away Party” includes a hearty South Dakota steak supper.
NOTE: The above schedule is only an example of the daily schedule. Each day may be rescheduled pending weather and other circumstances.
